Pick&Play by Pikeo

Pikeo will launch an application on the Iphone very soon : « pick&play »

Like photos? Look no further! With pick&play you can win fun and whacky photos to collect and share with your friends.

pick&play is a free, easy memory game that lets you discover the most amazing photos taken by the Pikeo community, the online photo sharing site.

The idea is simple: you have to pair up all the photos in as few clicks as possible. If your brain hasn’t gone totally soft, you’ve got a good shot at winning. If not, train your brain, you’ll end up winning ;)

Start the application and click on “Play” (or jiggle your iPhone…that works, too).

Pick the number of pictures to use in the game (the more photos you add, the more complicated the memory exercise). Customize the game by picking pictures straight from the photo library on your iPhone. Take photos with your mobile (a picture of your mate Matthew, your puppy Spot, etc.) and play with them, too!

Turn the pictures over and try to find all the photo pairs. Then discover the final surprise: an amazing photo that you can share right away by sending it to a friend.

If you’re good at this little game, you’ll win lots of funny, whacky photos fast…enough to put together your own private collection.  To locate them, click on “Photos won” when you start up the application.

The good news: you can play again and again, as often as you like to add photos to your collection.

Stay connected to be the first on your Iphone, spend a great time and share the fun with “pick&play” by Pikeo.

Invite who you want

Another new Feature on Pikeo!

Now it's easier to share pictures with your friends. Aren’t you tired to type one by one the 48 email addresses of your Halloween party guests? When sharing your album, click on contact import and invite your Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo!

When you start an album or want to invite friends, just clic on invite. You will find a new feature named contact importer who will  help you to find more friends ;)

Collaborative Albums --> New way to share pictures on Pikeo

Can several people create an album together?

Sure, the principle used is a “collaborative album”: you create an album with a theme (ex. Jessica’s pizza party), and you invite friends to drag-and-drop their photos in it.

That way everyone can contribute to the album and view it from their Pikeo account. A participant can decide to withdraw at any time: in that case, the album disappears from his/her personal account. If the administrator withdraws, s/he just names someone else as the new administrator.

Cool photo…you should put it in your favorites

Love this picture? Think this one’s original?

Click on the star on the bottom right of the photo you like to add it to your favorites.

To see all your favorites, click on “my favourites” on the top left of your personal page. And while you’re at it, why not check out other users’ favorites? You’re sure to find some great stuff…

The Great Adventure’s over for Benoît and Alexandre!

Benoît Bringer, 28-yr. old journalist-reporter, and Alexandre Franceschi, 29-yr. old economics teacher, have just wrapped up their world tour. After 9 months of travelling and a dozen countries visited, they’re sharing some of their impressions with us. Meeting with Alexandre.

How did you get the idea of taking such a major trip together?

We’d always wanted to take a long trip, drop everything and hit the road. The idea took shape at a transition period in life. The time had come.

What was the goal of this “Great Adventure”?

We didn’t want to make “just” a personal trip; we wanted to make our adventure part of a real project. Because of each of our jobs…we had to find an angle that combined our areas of expertise, and that choice became obvious fast: reporting on today’s youth.

What was most striking about your trip?

The hospitality, first of all: everywhere we went we were greeted with special attention and some of the encounters were really intense. Secondly, how easygoing the travelling was. Ella Maillart, one of the greatest explorers of the 20th century, told Nicolas Bouvier (who was worried about the condition of the roads between Geneva and Madras) in 1952: “Wherever people live, travellers can live”.

Did you run into any problems filming?

Not really. On the contrary, a movie camera offers a good excuse for approaching others and breaking the ice. Of course, in some regions, it’s better to keep a low profile and keep your guard up. I’m thinking of Iran, for example, where the police are on the lookout and where it’s hard to interview women…

Is there a story you’d like to share with us?

We were in a small Iranian town. It was cold and rainy, and we were waiting for a bus that we thought would never come. All of a sudden, five students came from nowhere and invited us to come and have a tea inside where it was warm while they took care of calling the bus company. We ended up never taking that bus and spent three (magical) days at their house. They didn’t speak English…we didn’t speak Farsi, but we spent whole evenings “talking”. We’ll remember that forever...

What did you get out of this trip?

Have you got all night? No, seriously, there’s really no way we could possibly explain it in just a few lines.

What’s next after this Great Adventure?

The plan is to broadcast our videos and exhibit our pictures. We’re working on that. Another goal is to keep the website http://www.lagrandeaventure.fr alive with updates. We’ve opened an area reserved for videos by other travellers. Benoît has already hit the road again and is currently in Kabul doing more reporting.

Was it easy to update your website on a regular basis?

Pretty easy. Internet’s everywhere now with decent bandwidth. We took off well-equipped (digital reflex camera, movie camera, computer and Pikeo phone) and thanks to the Shozu system on Pikeo, our pictures were posted in real-time on the site!

Alexandre and Benoît visited 12 countries: Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Japan. To learn more about their fantastic trip, rendezvous on their site http://www.lagrandeaventure.fr
